Chicks in the classroom
We introduce 2nd grade classrooms to basic embryology by hatching chicken eggs in the classroom. Our program includes a 20 minute presentation on chick development and the incubation process, then we set the eggs in the incubator.
Once a week we come back and candle the eggs with the class to check their progress. After the eggs hatch the chicks spend a few days with the class and are then placed with a local 4-H family or farmer.
Students are also introduced to 4-H and become familiar with some of the experiences they can have as a 4-H'er.Teachers who are interested in learning more please contact us at:360-417-2398or e-mail atgroyal@co.clallam.wa.us
4-H clubs are available to youth ages K-12 in all areas of the county. Clubs are organized and facilitated by trained, screened volunteer leaders.
If you or your child are interested in participating, contact the WSU Extension office for club contact information.
